Hundreds "Bike around the Bomb" against nuclear weapons

On August 9, 1945, the US dropped the second atomic bomb of WWII on Nagasaki, Japan. On August 9, 2015, hundreds rode in Global Zero's "Bike Around the Bomb" protest ride around the periphery of the part of DC that would be severely damaged by the smallest nuclear weapons in existance. Similar rides were conducted in cities all over the world. Several organizers spoke before the ride against efforts by the GOP (and AIPAC) to scuttle a nuclear deal with Iran that would block that country from building nuclear weapons. They warned that the alternative to the treaty may well be war.

Code Pink hula-hoops for nuclear peace deal with Iran

On the 4th of August, Code Pink set up on the H st side of Lafayette Park with hula hoops and signs supporting the proposed nuclear agreement with Iran. The GOP and politicians funded by AIPAC are doing everything they can to kill this deal on Capitol Hill. It is possible that gas fracking and shale oil interests would also fund efforts to kill the deal, as the lifting of sactions on Iran could cause crude oil and gas prices to plunge. That could make fracking and tar sands unprofitable for years to come.

Code Pink confronts Ted Cruz over Iran nuclear deal

On the 23rd of July, Ted Cruz spoke at a right-wing rally opposing the nuclear deal with Iran staged by "Concerned Women for America" in front of the White House. Another, more progressive women's group showed up to oppose him. Code Pink managed to get in Mr Cruz's face opposing his message of hate and refusal to negotiate, Concerned Women for America is a group that was known during the 1980's for anti-Gay protests, so for Ted Cruz to appear at their rally is a message of support for anti-LGBTQ bigotryt on his part.

"Christians United for Israel" draws protest

On the 13th of June, protesters showed up outside the Washington Convention Center opposing the "Christians United For Israel" (CUFI) convention being held inside. Christians, Jews, and Muslims alike called out current Israeli occupation policies for violating the philosophies expoused by Jesus, thus calling the convention one of hypocrisy. One of the current positions espoused by CUFI (along with AIPAC) is opposition to any nuclear deal with Iran, as they advocate war against Iran instead. Some "Christian Zionists" believe that the Jews must hold Jerusalem to enable the Rapture, an event associated in the Bible with Armageddon and among other things the loss of the entire Jewish population in Jerusalem. Thus war with Iran would fit their agenda.
