Students take over Hart Building in protest for clean DREAM act

On the 9th of November, an estimated 1,000 students walked out of DC schools and swarmed the Hart Senate Office Building for a loud protest demanding that a DREAM act be passed. Such a bill would protect young migrants brought here as children from being rounded up at deported, in some cases to countries they've never even seen. Protesters linked the Atrium galleries and dropped banners, demanding a clean bill with no provisions harming other migrants or border communities. At least one arrest was reported.

Protest against Trump's Muslim ban 3.0 marches from White House to Trump Hotel

On the 17th of October, a Federal court blocked Trump's third version of his Muslim Ban in response to a lawsuit by Hawaii. Trump being certain to appeal as before, mobilizing continues against the ban. On Oct 18, the day it was supposed to go into effect, a large protest marched from the White House to Trump Hotel.

Immigrants and supporters March from ICE to Wilson Buildng demanding Mayor Bowser block further raids

In the last week of September, ICE and Trump brazenly declared war on sanctuary cites such as DC, sending ICE to raid homes and detain over 450 people. Fourteen were taken by these terrorists here in DC. On Oct 4, immigrants and supporters marched from ICE headquarters to the Wilson Building to demand that Mayor Bowser take action to prevent further raids. So far she has been silent on this assault immigrant communities.

Pro-DACA protesters stage disruption inside Trump Hotel

On the 6th of September a "suit bloc" of activists disguised in suit and tie "yuppieflage" succeeded in entering Trump Hotel. Once inside, at an arranged time activists opened up with air horns and loud chants about "here to stay" in defiance of Trump's dream of deporting 800,000 "dreamers" or migrants brought here by their parents as children. Eventually protesters marched back outside into the streets where the protest continued.

Protesters march on White House, ICE, trump Hotel, DOJ as Sessions announces end to DACA

On the 5th of September, Donald Trump cravenly had racist attorney general Jeff Sessions announce that he was terminating DACA (Deferred Action on Childhood arrivals. He then punted the issue to Congress, giving them 6 months to pass legislation before mass roundups begin. In response, at least five protest marches went to the White House, ICE, the Dept of "Justice," Trump Hotel, and Capitol Hill. Penn Ave in front of Trump Hotel was blockaded twice.

Continuous #Dreamaction17 vigil for DACA holding down at White House

The National Korean American Service & Education Consortium(NAKASEC) is holding a continuous vigil for DACA known as #Dreamaction17 until September 5. Sep 5 is the deadline given to Trump by ten racist state attorney generals to kill off the DACA program or face lawsuits.

Immigrant youth stage pro-DACA skit at Univ of MD as supporters block roads

On the 29th of August, immigrant youth staged a skit simulating an ICE raid on a family in the center circle of University of MD's campus roads. Supporters including area antifascists blockaded the roads around the circle. The protest held the streets and circle for 11 minutes, symbolising 11 million people at risk for deportation under the Donald Trump regime.

"Dreamers" protest at White House against Trump's deportation plans

On the 25th of August, migrant rights advocates showed up in front of the White House demanding that Trump not unilaterally end the DACA (Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals) program. About 800, 000 young people have been protected from deportation by this program, which shields from deportation may who were brought here as children.

Supreme Court restores part of Muslim Ban, protesters show up outside

On the 26th of June, the US Supreme Court let much of Trump's ban on Muslim travellers from six countries go into effect for 90 days. Those who could prove a connection to a US citizen or organizations were exempted. Several hours later, protesters assembled outside the Supreme Court, and attorneys were reported to be on their way to airports again.
