US military warships conducted provocative exercises near a group of islands in the South China Sea. In Brussels, activists laid out 4500 pairs of shoes to represent every Palestinian by Israel in the past 10 years.

Jobs With Justice 2018 May Day Parade

Jobs With Justice DC observed International Worker's Day 2018 with a May Day parade to construction sites in DC to bring awareness of subcontractors such as Power Design Inc. with a history of wage theft. Also highlighted were gentrification and the displacement of DC historic communities of color as well as salary abuses among restaurant and domestic workers. Video Link

Vatican Urges Transparency to Address Inequality and Prevent Financial Crisis

The Vatican released an official assessment on global economics entitled, "‘Oeconomicae et pecuniariae quaestiones" or "Considerations for an ethical discernment regarding some aspects of the present economic-financial system." The document calls for improvements in global finance policies on debt resolution, taxation, financial crisis prevention and transparency.

Code Pink Saudi Crown Prince Protest Kennedy Center Video

Code Pink protests the "Saudi cultural and arts event" at the Kennedy Center during the visit of Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman.

The protesters will focus on bin Salman's key role in the bombing of Yemen, which has created the worldâs greatest humanitarian crisis. They will also debunk the notion that the Crown Prince is a reformer who is fighting corruption and bringing a new age of enlightenment to the kingdom.

Mijente chains Session effigy at Supreme Court to protest attempt to bring back shackling Federal defendents

On the 26t of March, Mijente and No Justice No Pride showed up in front of the Supreme Court with a Confederate statue style effigy of Jeff Sessions. As people lined up outside the court watched, they put leg irons, chains, and handcuffs on the effigy. Inside, Attorney General Jeff Sessions was arguing the Supreme Court should overturn a 9th Circuit case that found shackling Federal defendents to be unconstitutional.

ADAPT protests at home of FDA director against electroshock torture of autistic people

Beginning on the weekend of March 10-11, ADAPT has been camping out in front of FDA Director Dr. Scott Gottlieb's home. Things got a little hot on the evening of March 11 as ADAPT occupied the circular driveway, and MPD showed up to push them back. ADAPT is there to demand the FDA ban the use of electroshock aversive "therapy" against autistic children and adults at the Judge Rotenberg "Educational" Center.

Debt, Corruption and Tax Policies Impact Poverty, Says Vatican at United Nations

During United Nations Human Rights Council meetings last week, Archbishop Ivan Jurkovič, the Geneva based Vatican representative stated, “We can no longer frame the debt crisis as an exclusively economic problem. It affects future generations, as well as the social conditions that allow the enjoyment of human rights of vast numbers of people entitled to the solidarity of the whole human family.”

Protest against GITMO on 16th anniversary of opening leads to five arrests

On Jan 11, protesters marked the 16th anniversary of the opening of Gitmo with a protest in front of the White House,. They found Penn Ave closed (as usual) so they held a tea ceremony for the current 41 detainees on the park side sidewalk. Afterwards, five people marched into the prohibited zone in an act of civil disobedience and were arrested.
