Reportback from Aug 20 home demo at "Witchburner" Alito's house

Supreme Court "Justice" Alito is known among many protesters simply as "the Witchburner" for his quotations of Matthew Hale in the original Dobbs draft. On Aug 20, protesters returned to his home for yet another sortie out of so many since the beginning of May

Matthew Hale was a 17th Century judge infamous for sentencing two women to death on charges of witchcraft-and for laying the foundations of centuries of men being able to legally rape their wives. This is why Alito is known as "the Witchburner" and why at some protests there women chanted "we are the witches Matthew Hale couldn't burn!" Alito and his comrades have summoned the worst nightmares from the 1930s and the 1600's back to life, it will take some very strong medicine to banish them again.

Author's note: the bicycle commute to Alito's from DC via the Mt Vernon trail was a beloved and beautiful trip during the June runup to the release of Dobbs, despite the ugliness of the target and some early,non-repeated incidents involving right-wing media.
