Dear Radio Friend,     This week's show features stories from NHK Japan, Radio Deutsche-Welle, Radio Havana Cuba, and Sputnik Radio.        From JAPAN- A UK based think tank forecasts an escalation in the confrontation between the US and China. Taiwan approved the purchase 66 more F16 fighter jets from the US. A new study predicts the sea level rise caused by climate change could put 3-8 times more people at risk of flooding than previously estimated by 2050. Greta Thunberg declined an environmental award saying that action by governments was what was needed, not prizes.        From GERMANY- Brief reports from Australia and Israel, Lebanon protestors celebrated the resignation of the Prime Minister and his government , but regional and sectarian problems remain. Chile cancelled hosting the APAC trade summit and the COP25 climate meeting, after weeks of massive demonstrations and violent unrest. A horse show in Finland provides enough manure to power the event and all of Helsinki for the duration.        From CUBA- Argentina had a presidential election that ousted Macri and chose left-wing leader Alberto Fernandez. California Congressperson Barbara Lee condemned the new Trump ban on US flights to Cuba airports except for Havana. Bolivian presidential election results will be audited by the OAS and other countries, following disputes by the US backed losing candidate Mesa. The US defense Secretary Esper announced that the US military will use overwhelming force to defend Syrian oil- this after Russia accused the US of smuggling oil in Syria with military protection.        From RUSSIA- Afshin Rattansi interviewed Pink Floyd musician Roger Waters.
